A few of the ways iARELA is enhancing the value of the lease audit industry include:

  1. developing and promoting lease audit principles,
  2. creating lease audit practice standards,
  3. certifying qualified lease auditors, and
  4. advocating for buy-in from lease audit firms, tenants, landlords, and property managers

Any individual with an interest in the lease audit industry can become a member by following the membership process.

Paths to Certification

iARELA's Certified Lease Auditor program is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated in-depth knowledge and expertise in lease auditing. Strong candidates for CLA certification are those with existing professional certifications in other related fields such as accounting, law and property management, or administration.

To be awarded the Certified Lease Auditor professional designation, an applicant must:

  1. Have a bachelor's degree (or higher) plus any other professional designation such as law, CPA, CIA, Real Estate certification, etc. College degree holders who do not meet this qualification require 5 years of lease audit experience to apply for the Certified Lease Auditor designation.
  2. Have minimum of 2 years full-time, or 5 years part-time, lease audit experience.
  3. Provide 3 references that can attest to the individual's lease audit knowledge.
  4. Take a test.
